Welcome to the Center For Human Potential at CenterIMT. In our Children's Rehabilitation Programs we utilize the following Complimentary Medical Treatments to help all children reach their individual potential.
Integrative Manual Therapy (IMT) is a unique set of techniques, approaches,
and methodologies that address pain, dysfunction, disease and disability.
Developed by Dr. Sharon (Weiselfish) Giammatteo, IMT is best described as
a health care process. IMT encompasses a wide range of health care practices.
It achieves health and healing by taking into account the diverse systems
of the human body and addressing dysfunction at the cellular level. IMT practitioners
use their hands (among other tools) to diagnose and treat clients. IMT approaches
healing from both a structural perspective and functional methodology. This
means that IMT addresses pain, dysfunction, disease and disability by seeking
the causes of these challenges. Only after the causes are found and treated
can the potential for function re-emerge. Integrative Manual Therapy is not
a magic bullet; it introduces new concepts to the body, giving the body an
opportunity to heal itself.
IMT techniques facilitate healing on a cellular level and encourage tissue
repair. As with the diagnostics, the treatment approach is integrated and
includes many systems of the body including anatomic, physiologic, nutritional,
and psychologic. Some of the anatomic systems that most often require intervention
include bone, muscle, circulation, nervous tissue, the gastrointestinal tract,
the urogenital system, brain, and cardiovascular. IMT often addresses physiologic
systems of hormones, sleep cycles, metabolism, and the way clients handle
stress. Treatment is manual, with the IMT practitioner placing his/her hands
on the client’s body. Often, multiple systems are addressed to facilitate
healing, as pathology or a problem in one system may influence or be influenced
by pathology in another system.
Nutritional Wellness for patho-physiology encompasses diet and supplements.
Diet is not necessarily about calories, restrictions, or intake of certain
foods, although it can be. Diet is a tool for healing. During nutritional
sessions, an IMT practitioner works with IMT nutritional specialists to recommend
dietary changes only to prevent further harm to the body’s homeostasis
and physiology.
Nutritional supplements play an integral role in treatment of patho-physiology
as well. When recommending supplements for healing, nutritional specialists
consider how supplements may interact with medications, how they interact
with each other, and what the right amounts are.
The Sensory Learning Process™ uses three therapeutic techniques simultaneously
to create a comprehensive approach for sensory integration. It begins with
an evaluation of an individual’s auditory and visual perception to determine
how these systems are functioning. Once this information is collected, the
custom software program is set based on the client’s individual needs.
Using computer assisted technology that allows the integration of the three
sensory systems: vision, vestibular (balance) and auditory, The Sensory Learning
Process re-educates the systems to work together more efficiently.
Hyperbaric Oxygen is a medical treatment that enhances the body’s natural
healing process through the inhalation of 100% pure oxygen in a chamber where
atmospheric pressure is controlled and maintained above atmospheric pressure.
It is simply short term, high dose oxygen inhalation therapy, but with long
lasting effects. It is an extremely valuable tool in the treatment of a multitude
of acute and chronic disease states, as well as in traumatic, and before and
after certain types of surgery. Depending upon the patient, the oxygen level
in the bloodstream is raised by a factor of up to 10 times normal. In this
type of environment, oxygen is also delivered to tissues differently and more
efficiently—the oxygen is carried in the plasma and other cells in addition
to the red blood cells. Among other actions, this leads to the promotion of
healing of damaged tissue and control of infection.Adbobe Acrobat reader is

The Therasuit™ creates a breathable soft dynamic orthotic. Its major
goal is to improve and change proprioception (pressure from the joints, ligaments,
muscles), reduces patient’s pathological reflexes, restore physiologic
muscle synergies (proper patterns of movement) and load the entire body (anti-musculature)
with weight (process similar to a reaction of our muscles to gravitational
forces acting upon us for 24 hours). All of the above normalizes afferent
vestibular-proprioceptive input (information arrives to vestibular system).
The vestibular system is a tremendously important center. It processes, integrates
and sends back all the information that arrives from muscles, joints, tendons,
etc. It influences muscle tone, balance and position of the body in space.
The Quadriciser™ is a passive/isometric (motorized) therapy system.
It is designed to exercise upper and lower body extremities with timed sessions
and variable speed control providing for a choice of duration and cardiovascular
intensity. A bungee cord design provides for variable resistance and isometric
exercise capabilities. The Quadriciser™ originated out of the theory
that exercising the muscles, ligaments and heart through continuous and passive
exercise could have a significant impact on any population that does not have
the option of active exercise. This may include individuals who are medically
classified as quadriplegics as well as those recovering from surgery or a
serious accident.
