Things to Do and See in the Jacksonville Area

THE BEACHES – Jacksonville, Atlantic and Neptune beaches are all within 15 minutes of the Jacksonville Center. They offer plenty of water and beach activities, motels, restaurants and shopping.

JACKSONVILLE ZOO – A 61 acre zoo features an Okavango Village, an authentic riverfront African Village, dock, wildlife exhibits, a petting zoo, railroad and river shuttle.

JACKSONVILLE LANDING – On the northbank of the St. John’s River, this marketplace has several shops and restaurants and entertainment on a regular basis.

RIVERWALK – Features a 1.2 mile boardwalk with restaurants, bars, shops and marina on the southbank riverfront.

MUSEUMS – Includes Jacksonville Maritime Museum, Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum, Museum of Southern History, Museum of Science and History and Pablo Historical Park.

KINGSLEY PLANTATION – Built in 1792 and is the oldest plantation in Florida.

AMELIA ISLAND/FERNADINA BEACH – Located north of Jacksonville a half hour away. It offers unique shops, restaurants and wonderful golf courses.

ST. AUGUSTINE – Located south of Jacksonville a half hour away. It is the oldest city in the nation with great shopping, restaurants and trolley tours.

GOLF – Numerous private and public golf courses including the famous Sawgrass Club.
