Laurie Lunn, P.T., I.M.T.,C.
Laurie received her Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy from the Medical University of South Carolina . Her extensive training has focused on the functional rehabilitation of the neurologic client, with emphasis on the Spinal Cord Injured population. Laurie has successfully integrated Integrative Manual Therapy (IMT) with functional rehabilitation to provide her clients with optimal recovery, hope, and potential. Laurie has trained many IMT practitioners in IMT and functional rehabilitation for the patient with a spinal cord injury (SCI).Laurie's expertise lies in functional rehabilitation and community reintegration. She has developed SCI life care plans for both adolescents and adults. As an advocate for the SCI population, Laurie helped develop a SCI Peer Counseling Group, where she was also an instructor and consultant. She has lectured to elementary school students and university students on rehabilitation and the SCI client. Laurie has also been an instructor for Physical Therapy students on wheelchair mobility training skills.
Laurie has played an integral part in developing local and state SCI chapters. She is currently a member of the National SCI Association and Connecticut's State SCI chapter. She has been active in fund-raising events for Multiple Sclerosis and SCI. Her interest in sports has led her to be a volunteer at numerous wheelchair sporting events, including basketball and tennis. She has also organized and helped develop an aquatic program for the SCI client.
Laurie has consistently been a leader to her peers, where she has served as Clinical Specialist and Team Leader for both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation departments.
Laurie is the Director of Admissions for The Connecticut School of Integrative Manual Therapy (CSIMT). She is also teaching faculty for Dialogues in Contemporary Rehabilitation (DCR) and The Connecticut School of Integrative Manual Therapy (CSIMT)where she teaches courses nationally and internationally on IMT for the patient with a spinal cord injury. Laurie is currently teaching tutorials across the country on functional training for the SCI client. Laurie's knowledge of functional rehabilitation, combined with her skills in Integrative Manual Therapy, has propelled her to be a leader in the field of SCI rehabilitation.
