Neurofascial Process

Dr. Sharon Giammatteo developed Neurofascial Process (NFP) in the early 1980’s, during her doctoral research. It has been used on thousands of patients over the last two decades. NFP is beneficial in changing every sign, symptom, and dysfunction.

It is a process of diagnostics and treatment that can be performed on the athlete for acute injury, on the neurologic patient for decreased spasticity and increased motor function, on the child with colic, on the chronic pain patient for relief of pain and discomfort, and so much more.

NFP is a crucial part of your Quadrennial Plan. Fortunately, NFP can be performed by any able bodied person, therefore it can be placed first on your homework to-do-list.

Although NFP is very effective when performed on your own or by one person to you, often, there is a significant amount that needs to be done. If you do not have a support system of people to help you, it can become overwhelming. For this reason, CenterIMT created ‘The Homework Helper Program’. Whether these helpers are family members, friends, or hired assistants (Homework Helpers), the more well placed hands, the faster you go.

For more information on how to perform NFP, please refer to the additional section on NFP included in this handout. In addition, you may read Dr. Giammatteo’s book, Body Wisdom (© 2002) which outlines beginning protocols for using Neurofascial Process on many acute and chronic ailments.
