The Connecticut School of Integrative Manual Therapy's mission is to present the art and science of recovery through teaching, learning and understanding. The purpose of our professional school is the preparation of men and women to become Integrative Manual Therapists who will then serve as integral healthcare providers nationally and internationally for the benefit of those whose ultimate goal is complete health recovery. The Diploma Program is offered by the Connecticut School of Integrative Manual Therapy. The Diploma Program is currently designed for the health care practitioner (i.e. MD, ND, DDS, DO, DC, nurse, body worker, massage therapist, PT, OT, AT,C, etc.) who wishes to augment his/her professional skills in Integrative Manual Therapy. The school is also designed for individuals who have little or no academic or professional background in health sciences and the delivery of health care. A challenging curriculum will allow the learner to obtain essential skills that could be used to work with family, friends, and loved ones. Although there is currently no formal recognition (i.e. licensure) of the Integrative Manual Practitioner by traditional allopathic personnel, future licensure and national accreditation is being explored on an ongoing basis. Recognition by health insurers has not yet been established, however, will be a focus for the future as well. Completion of this Diploma Program provides the student with the acknowledgement of an acquired expertise from a rapidly expanding, but select, core of manual practitioners. Structural courses are offered through the Connecticut School of Integrative Manual Therapy. The academic and functional courses must be taken through another school, college or university and must be completed prior to graduation. Once all structural, academic, and functional requirements are met, the student will be issued a Diploma in Integrative Manual Therapy. The student will then be eligible to begin the Certification Process, and/or continue his/her education process through Westbrook University for higher degrees. The purpose of the Certification Program is to continue professional development of the candidate. The certification process will consist of an oral, written and practical exam, designed to determine an applicant's ability to fundamentally assess and plan a comprehensive approach to patient care. Following the successful completion of the examination, candidates will be authorized to use initials I.M.T.,C. (Integrative Manual Therapist, Certified). Diploma Program Requirements
Candidates will have the opportunity to transfer in professional experiences for the Functional Electives. Courses, previously completed through DCR, will be accepted towards the Diploma Program. Candidates will have the opportunity to transfer in the Academic/Basic Sciences Requirements from other institutions or complete them at Westbrook or other institutions. Certification Program Requirements
The culmination of the Certification Program will require an oral, practical and written examination. The examination will be given annually at sites to be determined. It will be overseen by DCR, the Connecticut School of IMT and Westbrook University. Questions? Call 888-DCR21st 9a.m to 5.pm. EST |
